About Us

You never know when the idea that will change your life will suddenly arise. For David Shrager and Kenny Dunn, the founders of Urban Pueblo, it was while strolling through an outdoor textile market in the heart of Caracas, Venezuela. The two were inspired by all of the unique designs, homemade flavor and entrepreneurial spirit of this bustling marketplace. They decided they would create a line of clothing that left people with the same positive feeling they had walking out of the market that day.

For several years, the two had been traveling across South America collecting beautifully crafted jewelry and handicrafts along the way. They loved the look and feel of the crafts they bought, but more than that, they loved the meaning each piece carried with it. Every pattern told a different story about the place it came from and the artisan who created it. Shrager and Dunn wanted their clothing to carry that same sense of meaning. They decided that they would design a collection that represented all of the things they loved in life; the music that moved them, the movies that inspired them and the special individuals throughout history that have changed them. The clothing line would pay tribute to all of the amazing people and things that have affected not just their lives, but millions of others across the world. The idea was to combine Style with Statement, so that clothing is not just about looking and feeling good, but it’s about telling a tiny bit of your own story and allowing each of us to represent something that we love.

Though still in the first year, UrbanPueblo is off to a great start with its clothing and handmade crafts being sold in boutiques in New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco and to individual customers all over the globe from Urban Pueblo. Currently, the two are designing a new Fall collection and continuing to seek out and partner with small artisans throughout Latin America.
